Each jade cup is carved with deep rounded sides rising to a flared rim，raised on a circular foot ring. The stone is of lustrous polishing displaying exceptional translucency in the nearly flawless white tone.
The Qianlong emperor’s success in conquering Xinjiang between 1755 and 1759 allowed a larger quantity of jade to be sent to the Qing court. It also created the opportunity for the workers to select the highest-quality material for the use of the emperor.
